Meshach Taylor
This tall, handsome son of college professors was born in Boston, MA and raised in Indiana and New Orleans where he acquired his gracious southern demeanor. Meshach Taylor became fascinated with acting in high school and studied the craft at Wilmington College in Ohio and Florida A & M University where he received a Bachelors degree.
Meshach began his professional career in repertory theater as a member of Chicago's Goodman Theater and the Organic Theater group. His stage performance in "Sizwe Banzo Is Dead," garnered him Chicagos Joseph Jefferson Award.
After gaining ample theater experience, Meshach moved to Los Angeles where he proved to be a versatile actor, earning roles in a wide genre of movies to include Damien: Omen II and The Howling. He also earned reoccurring television appearances on "Barney Miller," "Lou Grant" and "M*A*S*H.
In 1986, Meshachs southern charm served him well when he won the role of Anthony Bouvier on the popular television series Designing Women. He earned an Emmy Award nomination for his portrayal of the upward moving assistant at the fictitious Sugarbaker interior design firm in Atlanta, Georgia.
Meshach also played the role of Mr. Pruitt in the short version of Wigger for director Omowale Akintundes thesis at the New York Film Academy.
Meshach is married to actress Bianca Ferguson and has four children: Tamar, Yasmine, Esme Alana and Tarique.
